CLI Command Difference: Cisco Nexus Switches vs Dell Force 10

Today I am going to discuss on the CLI commands of different vendors. There are many queries where people asking me about the CLI command comparison between the different vendors. I already discussed command difference between Cisco and Juniper routers. I will also come with the another article on Cisco and Huawei CLI commands.

Here now I am taking simple configurations on Cisco Nexus and DELL devices. All these vendors have their own operating systems.
  • DELL Force 10 MXL - Operating System (FTOS)
  • Cisco Nexus Switches - Operating System ( NXOS)
Cisco Nexus Switches
Cisco Nexus family of Cisco Nexus 7000, Nexus 5000, and Nexus 4000 Series data center switches and Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders (FEX) is designed for highly scalable, end-to-end 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks.

These data-center-class switches feature continuous system operations and transport flexibility, and deliver innovative networking capabilities such as a unified fabric; I/O consolidation; and high-performance, low-latency, 10 Gigabit Fibre Channel over Ethernet switching.

Cisco Nexus Services help you incorporate the Cisco Nexus switches into your data center environment to create a next-generation data center architecture. They define an architecture that meets your business and technical goals, evaluate the gaps between your current infrastructure and your desired architecture, and provide recommendations to help you achieve your goals.

To help reduce the effects of outages and help ensure the success of your data center initiatives, you need to manage risk and complexity in your operational environment and implement proactive change management.

Dell Force10 MXL
The Dell Force10 MXL switch provides rich functionality using 1/10/40GbE addressing the diverse needs of environments ranging from data centers, large enterprises, government networks, education/research, and high performance computing.

The MXL switch supports 32 internal 1/10GbE ports, as well as two 40GbE QSFP+ ports and others two bays for optional FlexIO modules. To ensure room to grow with your business, uplinks via the FlexIO modules can be added or swapped as needed in the future.

Choose from 2-port QSFP+, 4-port SFP+ or 4-port 10GBASE-T FlexIO modules to expand and aggregate (bi-directional) bandwidth up to 160 Gigabit per second. The MXL switch provides the exibility to mix and match the FlexIO module types.

Let's talk about the CLI command difference between the Dell and Cisco Nexus Switches as shown below in the table.
