Cisco Router: Cisco 3900 Series router Comparison Matrix
As i discussed a lot of articles on various next generation protocols and technology but today I am going to tell you about the various router models in Cisco 3900 series router. Cisco 3900 series router is generally used for the mid size enterprises where WAN bandwidth required is till 150-180 Mbps. For the range of 50 till 180 Gbps (Recommended by many of the service provider) you can choose the models from the Cisco 3900 series router.
Here in this article I am not covering the basic features of the Cisco 3900 series router while i am also covering the security and Collaboration features which Cisco 3900 series router actually covers. I knew many of you already know and may be used these router in your environment for the various feature and the capabilities which it provides.
May be in my further articles i will cover the cross router comparison of the cisco routers (like comparison between Cisco 2900 series router and Cisco 3900 series router) or will also going to cover other vendor comparisons (Enterprise Cisco Routers vs Enterprise Juniper Routers or with Huawei Routers).
Lets discuss about the features of one of the Cisco 3900 Series Router, Lets take an example of Cisco 3945 Router here, so below are the various features supported by the Cisco 3945 router.

- You have modular Services Performance Engine (SPE) 150, which can be upgraded for even higher performance as next-generation WAN environments.
- It comes with the 3 integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports with 2 ports capable of RJ-45 or SFP connectivity
- You have 4 service module slots in the Cisco 3945 Router
- You also have 4 Enhanced High-Speed WAN Interface Card slots
- It comes with the 4 onboard digital signal processor (DSP) slots
- Cisco 3945 Router have 1 Internal Services Module slot
- Cisco 3945 router comes with the dual integrated power supplies
- It can be fully integrated power distribution to modules supporting 802.3af Power over Ethernet
- Well Cisco 3945 Router has high-density-packet voice DSP module, optimized for voice and video support
- It also have the Standards-certified VoiceXML browser services
- In Cisco 3945 Router, you can have the Cisco Unified Border Element capabilities for up to 1000 sessions
- It can also have the Cisco Unity Express voicemail support
- Last Cisco 3945 Router can support for Cisco Communications Manager Express and Survivable Remote Site Telephony.
