Introduction to Routers and WAN networks

This Post is regarding the basics of the Routers, This post is basically for the starters in the networking fields who just started to understand the basics of the devices used in the networking and here in this post I am going to talk about the Routers.

What is routers and where and why we are using ?

Now you want to understand what is WAN Connectivity, Well WAN is called as Wide Area Network and used to connect the two different LAN Networks. So here comes the new question for you and that is what is LAN, LAN is Local Area Network, The network you always see in your offices that is connected to the different Laptops, Desktops, Printers and other Network devices.

Hope you understand now what is LAN, WAN, Network and Router. All these terms are for the starters of the Networkers or may be called as Network Engineers.

Lets Start with the detail description of Routers now.

Routers: The device connected at the edge of the LAN network and help you to connect with other LAN networks through him, so simply if there are two different LAN networks, then Router is a important parameter to connect these Networks. When LAN networks connection comes into picture there comes the Network called as WAN and Router is a WAN device.

Below is the example showing the various routers connected to the service providers name as Autonomous System(AS) and the internal LAN networks where they are connected to the Switches.

Router is the devices to connect to the various WAN (Wide Area Networks) and you can divide different LAN (Local Area networks ) with the router, which means between two different LAN networks they will be router.
