The Release of Cisco DNA center 1.3.x


As in our earlier post, I discussed about the new release of the Cisco ISE version 2.7 and now I will talk about the Cisco DNA center new release of DNAC 1.3.x. They are related to each other in the case you are going to deploy Cisco SD-Access in your LAN environment. Cisco DNA center is a controller and the orchestration layer device which I already discussed in many of my earlier articles and Cisco ISE is the AAA device for users, devices as we discussed in Cisco ISE 2.7 release article as well.

You have various features of Cisco DNA center like Automation with Base and sensor, Device Onboarding features, SWIM, Inventory management, Network discovery, Network design diagrams, Client and device health, Provision of network devices, Managing Cisco Wired and Wireless devices with Cisco SD-Access, Path trace features and many more. All these features are now enhanced in Cisco DNA center 1.3.x versions (the latest version is DNAC 1.3.1.3).

What is new in Cisco DNAC 1.3.x?
Well below are some described features which is either new or enhanced in Cisco DNAC 1.3.x
  • Ability to clone an IP pool
  • Bulk provisioning supports additional data fields needed to provision wireless devices. You can change the device name during the claim process and it is also used as the default device hostname. The claim user interface has several other improvements to make the process easier.
  • Application Hosting
  • Telemetry profile enhancements
  • Device tagging enhancements
  • Group-based access control policies update
  • ACI groups in Cisco DNA Center
  • Sensor enhancements
  • Intelligent Capture support for more network devices
  • New platform support: Cisco Catalyst 9800-L Wireless Controller and Embedded wireless support on fabric edge.
  • Ekahau integration
  • Fabric-in-a-box deployments options
  • Extended support to Cisco Catalyst IE3400 Heavy Duty Series (IE3400H)

  • Cisco DNA Center 1.3.0.2: Cisco ISE 2.6 patch 1, Cisco ISE 2.4 with patch 5,6,7,8 and Cisco ISE 2.3 with patch 5 and 6
  • Cisco DNA Center 1.3.0.4 or 1.3.0.5: Cisco ISE 2.6 with patch 1, 2. Cisco ISE 2.4 with patch 5, 6,7,8,9 and Cisco ISE 2.3 with patch 5, 6 and 7.
  • Cisco DNA Center 1.3.1.3: Cisco ISE 2.6 with patch 1 and 2, Cisco ISE 2.4 with patch 7, 8 and 9.

Compatibility of Cisco DNA Center 1.3.x with Cisco ACI APIC (Cisco ACI Controller)
  • Cisco APIC Controller: compatible with Cisco APIC controller. The DNA center with version 1.3.x having the release notes of 3.2(4e).
  • Cisco ACI Spine and Leaf Hardware: Cisco Nexus 9300 or 9500 Series Switches with release notes of 13.2(4e)
  • Cisco ACI Leaf node Switch: Cisco Nexus 9300-FX Series Switches or above with release notes of 13.2(4e)
