Introduction to Juniper T4000 Core Router for Service Providers

Today I am going to talk about the Juniper Core router T4000. T4000 is one of the high-end routers with many features. This router is basically designed for the MPLS environment. Juniper T4000 brings a consistent, high-performance, and adaptable architecture to carry a wide extent of facilities over a usual IP/MPLS infrastructure.

You can get the throughput of 3.84 Tbps of line-rate in a half-rack chassis, the T4000 compromises the performance required for today’s capability needs in the core of the network.

Juniper T4000 will delivers 240 Gbps per slot and supports up to 208 ports of 10GbE or 16 ports of 100GbE interfaces, making it the densest line-rate IP/MPLS routing system. Below are the hardware specifications of T4000 Juniper core router as:
  • Dimensions (W x H x D): 17.43 x 37.45 x 31 in
  • 4 Tbps Throughput
  • 10 Gigabit Ethernet Density: 208 (Line Rate) and 384 (oversubscribed)
  • Multichassis capability and Fully redundant Hardware
  • Power System Rating (Agency Label): 11,500 W
  • Mounting: Front or center
  • Maximum Weight: 274.88 kg
Juniper Networks T4000 Series routers provision the qualities that service providers essential to grip today’s huge development in core bandwidth necessities. These qualities comprise MPLS Differentiated Services (DiffServ-TE), point-to-multipoint label-switched paths (P2MP LSPs), nonstop routing, unified in-service software upgrades (unified ISSUs), hierarchical MPLS, and service delivery with the Juniper Networks JCS1200 Control System and the Juniper Networks Junos SDK.

A fully loaded T4000 system can support up to 208 ports of 10GbE, or 16 ports of 100GbE interfaces, making it the densest line-rate IP/MPLS routing system. With a pay-as-you-grow model, service providers can migrate in-service and scale a single T4000 from 4 Tbps chassis to a Multichassis configuration with the TX Matrix Plus to support up to 16 Tbps.

The T4000 is a true multiservice core system that is designed to deliver a reliable, high-performance, and flexible architecture to carry a wide breadth of services over a common IP/MPLS infrastructure.
