Introduction to Arista Cloud Vision : A Path to LAN Automation

Today I am going to talk about Arista’s Cloud Vision features and the capabilities. Arista Cloud Vision is the way to automate the LAN network. Arista Cloud Vision manages LAN switches underlay, and roles as a single point of management, automation, provisioning, and monitoring to the entire switches’ network.

Cloud Vision runs as a centralized virtual appliance and can manage up to 1,000 switches. If we talk about the integration with the third party, Cloud Vision can integrate with 3rd party network controllers to achieve overlay switches’ management.

Arista has support for activating firewalls and application delivery controllers for workloads and workflows via Cloud Vision – with MSS (Macro Segmentation Service).MSS adds to Cloud Vision the ability to provide security and offload enforcements to the managed fabric.

MSS feature learns which security policies rules exist in the fabric (taken with REST API’s by the security 3rd party app).MSS knows which end devices the security policies apply to, and it automatically picks up any security changes within the 3rd party security applications.

Cloud Vision Key Features
  • Single Pane of Glass
  • Network Provisioning automation
  • Network Wide Upgrade automation
  • Network Rollback
  • Simplification in Change management
  • Network underlay and Overlay visibility

With the introduction of NetDB, we can get an aggregated real-time network state of every SysDB instance, to provide network wide telemetry and analytics to the very instant when any state change occurred. This is an advantage over the traditional polling techniques which are based on a 5 to 15 minutes data polling intervals.

Arista Supports to Yang/Rest APIs
Arista can stream in a network wide manner the full device state raw data, such as counters, errors, configurations, stats, tables, buffers utilizations, flow data. The stream data is provided via our Open Config YANG model support and allows access to real-time and historical telemetry view. Open RESTFul API is provided for integration with variety of partner solutions and customers’ specific infrastructure.
