Cisco IOS and Cisco IOS-XR Command differences

After i talked about the Cisco IOS and Juniper Junos command difference, there are some queries from the people about the command differences in Cisco IOS and Huawei as well. Below are some questions asked
  • What is the difference between Cisco IOS and Cisco IOS-XR ?
  • Which routers are capable of running Cisco IOS ?
  • Which routers are capable of running Cisco IOS-XR?
  • What will be commands used to configure BGP in Cisco IOS-XR platform ?
  • Can we have difference between command of BGP in IOS and IOS-XR ?
I knew there are lot of questions more to discuss about it. Below are some of the features i capture showing the difference between IOS and IOS-XR. Some of you are not aware that Cisco IOS-XE is the advance version of Cisco IOS, so the commands are same but yes there are difference between IOS and IOS-XR.

I knew i capture some of the features here, but i will show up the other command difference between IOS and IOS-XR for the different routing protocols like how to configure BGP, OSPF in IOS and IOS-XR platforms.

Lets start with the basic configuration in Cisco IOS and Cisco IOS-XR devices in the below table. in Fig1.2, i will cover Basic command reference and IS-IS configuration difference between IOS and IOS-XR.

Some of the other commands on Cisco IOS and Cisco IOS-XR BGP and OSPF command differences. I am sure i covered some of the queries asked by you guys. I will come up with another article showing the differences. Although if you want to have any other difference about the commands like RIP or other please let me know i will cover that in another article as soon.
